Unhygienic practice at Eleme abattoir under control – Council

Eleme council authority has admitted the unhygienic nature of Aleto abattoir but assured the public of its readiness to ensure that meats from the abattoir are wholesome for human consumption.

The Council Slaughter Committee Chairman, Samuel Oluka said the general public need not be scared as adequate safety measures have been put in place by the council’s veterinary team.

His words: “Eleme council authority lost the Aleto abattoir to the real owner of the land through a court judgement. Since then, the butchers have been using a temporal place behind Eleme Petrochemical that has no slab.”

Oluka also said the Chairman of Eleme LGA, Philip Okparaji is working tirelessly to ensure the quick return of Aleto butchers to their main slaughterhouse.
