The wife of a man who has been arrested for incest after impregnating their long-lost daughter has spoken about finding out about the pair.
Alyssa and Steven Pladl gave up their daughter Katie for adoption, however, when she turned 18 she decided to seek out her parents and an incestuous relationship began between her and her dad.
In an interview with Daily Mail TV, Alyssa opened up about finding out about the affair from their 11-year-old daughter who stayed with the couple and saw them kissing and wrote about it in her diary.
The Mail reports that one entry in her journal read: “Katie is pregnant. Dad says they feel like couples. Did they get a little too drunk that night? My dad is a slut.
“He’s Satan. He’s fucking SATAN. He’ll go to hell but he won’t be the one getting tortured, he’ll be the one torturing people.”
She also wrote that she was asked to call her log-lost sister ‘step-mom’.
Thirty-seven-year-old Alyssa told the news outlet there were ‘no words’ to describe the ‘sense of betrayal and disgust she feels after finding out about the relationship.
Blaming her ex-husband for the relationship, Alyssa said: “I waited 18 long years to have a relationship with my daughter – and now he’s completely destroyed it.”
She added: “Katie is the victim, she needs to get some help, she needs to be shown how to prioritise that child and rebuild her life.”
Katie, now 20, and Steven even married, after Alyssa and Steven divorced in November 2016.
Photos shared to social media, show a pregnant Katie and Steven hugging near a lake with the date 20 July written across, and others showing them posing with guests at their ‘wedding’.
“From what I know it was an official wedding, even if it was illegal,” Alyssa said. “They just didn’t disclose their father-daughter relationship.
“They were all there for an incestuous wedding and she’s pregnant with his baby. How they could be there celebrating is beyond me.”
After their relationship came out, the couple were arrested on 27 January and charged with incest, adultery and contributing to delinquency. The couple’s child, who was born in September 2017, was alleged to have been at the scene when police arrived.
The crimes they’re accused of could land them up to ten years in prison if they’re found guilty.
Bail was set at $1 million, which Steven has managed to raise, however, Katie remains at the Wake County Detention Centre in North Carolina. They are both awaiting extradition back to Virginia, where the crimes happened.
