Port Harcourt: F-SARS attack Governor Wike’s Aide

A Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on new media, Marshal Obuzor, was on Monday evening, attacked and beaten by men of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad, F-SARS in Port Harcourt.

Reports available to Theportcitynews.com say Marshal Obuzor was flagged down around the Mandela car wash area in the GRA Axis of Port Harcourt, and on identifying himself, was dealt severe blows and machete drills.

Unconfirmed reports stated that his phone and car keys were also seized by the SARS operatives.

Theportcitynews.com also learnt that it took the intervention of the Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Onowu, who mobilized people to calm the situation and rescue the Governor’s aide, recovering his phones and car keys.

The commander of the squad in the state, ACP Akin Fakorode, has been at loggerhead with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, for allegedly meddling in the 2016 rerun elections.

The governor claimed that page 66 of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) report on the Rivers rerun indicted Fakorede, alleging that he was accused of hostage-taking, hijack of electoral materials and attacks on INEC officials.

Wike also claimed that Fakorede was plotting, recruiting, training and arming a special squad to rig next year’s polls, an allegation the F-SARS commander denied.

However, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris mandated the SARS commander in May to institute a lawsuit against the governor..

Theportcitynews.com’s requests for comments from the Rivers State Police command were not immediately responded to as the PPRO, Nnamdi Omoni’s phone was switched off.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports say the attack by the F-SARS on Obuzor might be linked to Obuzor’s constant criticism of the Akin Fakorede led F-SARS in Rivers State over their excesses on Rivers people.

Marshal Obuzor is currently undergoing treatment at a Private Hospital in Port Harcourt.

At the time of filing this report, no officials of the Rivers State Government has made comments on the matter.
