Police confirm Kula sea pirates attack, as two is reportedly killed

The Rivers State police command has confirmed the incident in Kula, Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, following an attack from suspected sea pirates.

The Police public relations officer, Nnamdi Omoni told the press, that other person’s including a police officer sustained injuries during the attack.

Nnamdi Omoni confirmed that a joint security team have been drafted to the community on a surveillance mission.

“I can confirm the incidence. The details I have are still sketchy anyway but it’s surprising to say that they were coming back from, I think, ward elections when some unknown armed men attacked them, and they had about 2 or 3 persons feared dead and some sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds, including even a police man that was with them.

“Getting wind of that report, we immediately mobilized to the scene with men of the JTF with two gun boats. They went there, combed the entire place and then also salvaged the situation.

“For those that got bullet wounds, they were taken to the hospital. And as at the moment, we have increased our patrol of that Axis.

The Rivers state NYCN President, Amb Sukubo Saraigbe Sukubo and the Chairman of Petroleum Tax force Rivers State, Hon Kenneth Dan Opusingi were involved in the attack.
