The International Society for Social Justice and Human Rights has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Nyesom Wike and the police for failing to secure the lives and property of their citizens.

The group made this known while reacting to the prolong captivity of Okey Wali (SAN) in kidnappers’ den which has lasted a week and some days.

The SAN and former President, Nigerian Bar Association was kidnapped in Rivers State by some unknown gunmen who shot and killed the legal practitioner’s aides before whisking him away.

The Chancellor of the group, Dr Omenazu Jackson told our correspondent that: “It is a sad incident that such a prominent Rivers son will be kidnapped in a Rivers soil and for days now, nobody has known his whereabouts.

“It calls for questioning about the security votes which had been expanded by the state.

“It calls for questioning what the police institution is doing in Rivers State.

“This man that has been kidnapped is a father, a provider and uncle. He has a lot of dependants.

“Have we considered the psychological truma his family is going through?

“Have we thought about how do these criminals had access to information and the arms they use to kidnap their victims?

“What has the state been doing? Where has the security votes been deployed to?

“These are some of the pertinent issues we have to raise. They are questions that the state needs to answer.

“Did the state not know that it is its constitutional duty to protect lives and property.

“If a man of Okey Wali’s status can not be secured in the society, then what will be the fate of the downtrodden?

“We are in a Nigeria where ransoms of 200 to 400 million naira are being paid to criminals and yet we have a president that is a retired Army General.

“Can Buhari and Wike justify their oaths of office? The answer is NO. So, where are we heading from here?

“I will plead with the captors to leave that innocent man alone to go home and take care of his family.”
