A State of Emergency will not work in Rivers – Alhaji Asari insists

By Mark Lenu

There are strong indications that the motive behind the political tension in Rivers State is for a State of Emergency to be declared in the state.

All accusing fingers are being pointed at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike as the mastermind.

While several political analysts have put forward their arguments for and against the possibility of the federal government declaring a state of emergency on the state, the Edi-Abali of Kalabari Kingdom, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari has boldly ruled out the possibility of a state of emergency in the state.

Alhaji Asari who described Wike as evil for orchestrating political unrest in the state, insisted that the people of the state will not allow unelected persons to take over the reins of governance in the state.

According to him: “All that Nyesom Wike’ is planning is for the federal government to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State which will be an impossibility. There is nothing going on in Rivers State to justify a state of emergency.

“And even if there is a state of emergency, the structures of government can not be replaced by unelected persons. The people of Rivers State will resist any attempt to declare a state of emergency on the state.

“But to fast track their plan, Nyesom Wike and his group decided to bomb the Port Harcourt Presidential Hotel where there were visiting senators on oversight functions.

“The grave they were about to dig for the people of Rivers State, it was they that fell inside.

“Wike and his group have been exposed and the whole world has seen it that they are the ones that are inflicting pain and injuries on other people.”

Alhaji Asari also called on President Bola Tinubu to be careful over his closeness with Wike, adding that Wike does not mean well for the president.
