Tonye Cole unveils manifesto, promises inclusive governance

The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State, Tonye Cole, has said that if elected governor his administration will run on three pillars of social welfare, peace and security, and developmental infrastructure.

He disclosed this on Wednesday during the unveiling of his manifesto and the inauguration of the campaign council, headed by Chief Michael West for the 2023 governorship election.

Cole said Rivers people will be the core of his government “and will be the parameter on which the policies we pursue and drive are centered.”

According to him, his administration will set strategies to improve the social welfare of citizens, as well as create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

“We will ensure citizen participation in policy-making, create a feedback mechanism to enable us to feel the pulse of the people, and make ourselves and our appointees accessible to the people.

“We will prioritize spending, ensure proper management and minimize waste while pursuing economic policies that will bring long-term benefit. We will apply resources to provide sound training and state-of-the-art equipment to support the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to combat crime and ensure law and order.

“We will invest in infrastructure that will enable you to develop, from agriculture, education, health entertainment, and sports to other critical infrastructure that will enable you to develop on your own,” he added.

The APC guber candidate said that despite all the challenges of the APC in the State, the party will be on the ballot in 2023, urging party members to keep the faith.

In his remarks, the former Governor of Rivers State and immediate past Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi charged the candidate to devise a strategy to save the state while encouraging party supporters not to lose hope ahead of the elections.

He also warned them to abstain from all appearances of immorality that could distance them from God.
