Woman arrested for allegedly assaulting son with cutlass, lace injury with pepper

The Delta State Police Command on Friday, arrested a mother identified as Naomi Esther Batubum for allegedly beating and inflicting bodily injuries on her son.

It was gathered that Police operatives in Ovwian/Aladja Division in Udu Local Government Area of the State in collaboration with some human rights activists had rescued the abused young boy.

It was also learnt that the suspect had allegedly tied up her son to an electric pole, beat him up with iron and cutlass, and proceeded to lace the injuries she inflicted on him with pepper.

Confirming the development, the Secretary of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Israel Joe said they had recieved a report on the matter and swiftly involved the Police.

According to him, “Today being 22nd of July, a report from a Facebook follower got to our very comrade Israel Joe on how a woman in Otor-Udu tied up her son on an electric poll, beat him up with iron and cutlass and rub the child with pepper all over all the injury she inflicted on him.

“The Comrade immediately called the Ovwian/Aladja DPO CSP Shaba who then detailed a truck of Policemen along with few comrades, got the woman named Naomi Esther Batubum arrested and the child was rescued.

“The culprit is now detained at the police station while the child has been taken to the hospital. Thanks to all social media followers who kept drawing our attention to such issues.”
