Covid-19: Port Harcourt Catholic Bishop bans Sunday services, others

The Catholic Bishop of Port Harcourt Diocese, Most Rev.Camilus Etukudoh, has suspended all masses in parishes and chaplaincies for 14 days until 8th of April 2020.

Bishop Etukodoh in a statement also suspended all public adorations, stations of the cross and other pious devotions until further notice.

Camillus Etukudoh said the moves were part of measures introduced by the church to protect the Catholic faithful from contracting the virus.

The Catholic Prelate also asked all Catholics to maintain adequate personal hygiene, social distancing and stay at home directives of the State and Federal Government.

The Bishop also called on Catholics to follow the Holy Mass on Television and other live streaming platforms during the period.

Also, the Omega Power Ministries OPM has suspended its Sunday services worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries OPM Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere during a press briefing said the services are suspended until further notice.

Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere said the move was part of measures put in place by the church to curtail the spread of the virus.

He said the church is following the directives of the State and Federal government in maintaining social distance.

The cleric also asked members to maintain good hygiene by washing their hands regularly with soap and water.

The General Overseer of OPM Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere also said he would be ministering live on radio and television and other social medium platforms during this period.

He said he would pray for God’s protection upon its members and for an end of the coronavirus pandemic around the world.
