Stop shaking your head: ‘Your character may lead you to your early grave’, Monarch warns Wike

The Traditional ruler of Umudiawa Ohuhu community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, His Royal Majesty, Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, has cautioned Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, over his recent verbal attacks on traditional stools in the state.

Wike had during the annual quarterly meeting of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt on Tuesday asked the traditional ruler of Omuma to stop shaking his head, referring to him as a “small boy who was running around doing errand” while they were in school.

Going full ballistic on the royal father, Wike retorted: “Stop shaking your head; that’s sycophancy.

“You are one of those causing problems. They gave you chieftaincy, but you are a young boy; so you don’t even know what to do with it.

“And then, when I’m speaking, you are shaking your head like this, because you think I will be happy.

“All fake! Fake! You just go and wear something that is bigger than you…when someone is looking for power… You’d think he’s an elderly person.

“Very small Youngman… this boy. I know when I was in school; he was running around us, going on errands. Now he’s dressing Usman Dan Fodio (Founder of Sokoto Caliphate).

“Then he begins to breach protocol. He thinks when he’s shaking his head like this, I’d be happy. That’s fake… that’s fake…”

The video of his attack on the traditional ruler has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media.

While others hailed him for having the courage to caution the traditional rulers, others chided him, describing his action as disrespectful.

But, Eze Ofoegbu, in his reaction on Saturday in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, advised the Rivers Governor to desist from insulting the revered traditional stools as that may attract the wrath of the gods.

“It is not advisable for the Traditional Rulers to be going to meetings with their “Staff of office”.

“Governor Wike, this is very wrong of you and unacceptable to have commanded your Royal kings to stand up before you with their staffs of office.

“This character may draw you to your early grave.”
