Dakolo vs Fatoyinbo: CAN commends judgement, warns pastors

By Brave Dickson

The Christian Association of Nigeria, Rivers State, has commended the judgement delivered by an Abuja High Court in favour of Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Common Wealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) against Mrs Busola Dakolo.

Recall that a rape allegation suit filed by Mrs Dakolo against Pastor Fatoyinbo before Justice Musa was struck out by the court.

The state Chairman of CAN, Apostle Stanley Dimkpa in a chat with our correspondent warned pastors to desist from any act that would bring accusation on them, saying that such accusation would not only tarnish their image but would also rub the image of the Christendom in the mud.

While appealing to Mrs Dakolo to forgive for the sake of Christ, the CAN chairman said: “First we appreciate God that judgement had been given and at the end of the day, he had been vindicated. But let’s believe that the vindication is to the glory of God.

“For we who are in Christ Jesus, we believe that old things have passed away and everything remains new,

“It is something that we do not encourage, nor something we should clap because such allegation does always go a long way in tarnishing the image of clergymen and their relationship with God.

“I will advise any cleric to stay away from any manner of attitudes that can lead to such allegation. For this reason, we are equally appealing to ministers to stay away from any relationship or closeness that will lead to an accusation.

“We have to be vigilant the way the scripture has enjoined us. In a nutshell, I will appeal to various ministers of the gospel to be careful and be watchful in accordance with 1st Peter chapter five.

“As for Pastor Fatoyinbo, I appreciate God who has given him the strength and wisdom to manage this level of allegation because is not easy.

“For the lady (Mrs Busola Dakolo), I will equally appeal to her to forgive as a Christian so that we can be able to grow with the spirit of oneness in the body of Christ.”
