A lecturer with the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Godwin Olai, has been suspended for three months by authorities of the institution.
A statement by the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ndimele Ozo-Mekuri, said that a voice recording captured the voices of some final year students under the supervision of Olai who accused him of demanding seventy thousand naira (N70,000) from them each for their project.
The statement said the students claimed Olai, who is of the Department of Management, promised to write, type and bind the projects for each of the students without any input from them.
He promised that the students would only write their Dedication and Acknowledgement pages.
The VC said the matter had been referred to the Staff Disciplinary Committee for further investigation.
