A bride has tied the knot with her husband’s groomsman in a marriage party which held on Wednesday in Maharajpur area of India.
According to reports, the bride got married to one of the ‘baraatis’ (member of the marriage party from the groom’s side) after the groom disappeared mysteriously from the wedding venue.
It was gathered that the ‘jaimala’, which is exchange of garlands ceremony in Indian tradition had taken place earlier.
Families of the couple were said to be laying out preparations for the main wedding ceremony when the groom suddenly disappeared.
Both families launched a search for the groom, with a distraught bride in the waiting.
It was gathered that after hours of searching, the bride’s family discovered that the missing groom had deliberately fled for reasons best-known to him.
Seeing the bride’s family upset, one of the guests from the groom’s family suggested that the marriage should be solemnised with another suitable man from the baraat.
Reports revealed that after consultations, the bride’s family chose one of the men, with both families agreeing on the alliance.
The union was solomnmized immediately at the venue.
However, the bride’s family entered a complaint against the groom and his family with the police.
While speaking on the incident, Inspector with the Indian police, Narwal, Shesh Narain Pandey, said:
“We have received a complaint in this regard from both the bride and groom sides. While the bride’s side has sought suitable action against the groom and his family members, the groom’s father, Dharampal, in his complaint, has sought police help to trace his missing son. Investigations are continuing in this regard.”
