The Prince Peter Odike-led faction of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has asked the Rivers State Police Command to arrest and investigate the state Chairman of the party, Hon. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, over the recent attack and vandalization of the faction’s new secretariat in Port Harcourt.
However, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree has denied being involved in the vandalization of the factional APC secretariat located at the Waterlines axis of Aba Road
Speaking to TPCN in Port Harcourt today, state youth leader of the Odike-led faction, Hon. Dima Agiobu said the party has already written a petition to the Commissioner of Police over the incident.
According to him, “On Thursday, August 9, 2018, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree threatened that he will bring down the APC secretariat and seal it. Two days after, the incident occurred. Thugs and criminal elements came in about four buses and destroyed the place.
“In a criminal investigation, just like in mathematics, you start from the known to the unknown. We do know that Ojukaye Flag-Amachree is the prime suspect in the attack on APC secretariat.
“As a law-abiding political party, we have formally reported the matter to the Police who sent their men to make an underground assessment. We have also transmitted a formal petition because we want the matter to be investigated so that the perpetrators of this evil act will be brought to book”
The youth leader insisted that the Odike-led factional executive is the legally recognised executives of the party in the state, going by the order of a Rivers State High Court and report of a technical committee that was set up by immediate past National Chairman of APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
Agiobu said: The Prince Peter Odike-led executives is the legally recognised state executives of APC because there has not been any congress of the party in the state, following the interlocutory order of the Rivers State High Court. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree and his executives are just parading themselves in flagrant disobedience of an order of the Court.
“Also, the report of the technical committee set up by Oyegun, said if for reason of inability to fulfil constitutional and or legal condition requisite for the conduct of a valid elective congress, then, the party may as last resort leverage on the NEC resolution of February 27, 2018.
“That is the resolution which requires elected officers to remain in office in an acting capacity for a period of 12 months from the date of the expiration of their tenure.”
In a swift reaction, Press Secretary to the APC Chairman in the state, Asi Prince Dateme, told TPCN that Flag-Amachree was not involved in the vandalization of the factional secretariat of the party.
“Hon. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree is a law-abiding citizen who does not take laws into his hand. He is also a peaceful man who will not go and destroy somebody’s property. Let the fact be established, Hon. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree has nothing to do with the destruction of that secretariat.
“He did not ask anybody to go and destroy any building. But, the fact must also be stated, that there is only one secretariat of APC in Rivers State and that is the party secretariat Hon. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree is currently occupying. Any other secretariat outside of that is illegal”
