Popular Nigerian artist Stanley Didia, also known as Omah Lay, has sent a shock wave to social media users through his revelation, as he alleged that an undisclosed close musician whom he shared an idea with made use of his shared idea without his consent.

In a viral video on X, Omah Lay disclosed in the Zach Sang Show that he shared his album idea with a colleague he wanted to collaborate with in the music industry, and his idea was allegedly stolen.

He added that the undisclosed artist made an album with his idea five months later, using the idea he shared with him.

The 27-year-old musician explained that the action of the undisclosed colleague made him re-record his album: “My song ‘Holy Ghost’ is a new sound. I was going to make the whole album with the new sound, but along the way, I changed my mind.”

“I shared an idea with a certain artist, and the artist went ahead and put out an album with my idea, and I had to re-record my album.

“He came to me, and I accepted our collaboration. Of course, it’s an artist that I love. And I told him where I’m headed with the sound. Five months later, he put out an album with exactly the same sound that I shared with him.

“I had to go back and remake my album, which is actually going to be the greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.”

Reacting to the revelation, some X (formerly Twitter) users expressed their opinion about the alleged theft revelation, stating that it was cruel to steal someone else’s idea and pledged support for Omah Lay.

An X user who goes by the name Luking_Tkd said, “Experience, they say, is the best teacher. Sharing your idea is like gambling, because you might get burned.

Another X user, Unwana Umoinwang, mentioned that people should be careful of who they share ideas with. The X user said, This is a reminder to be very careful of the people you tell your business to. Omo, this lesson entered me.”

Dr. Pharouk, an X user, said, “Na wa o. Who will do such a thing to a fellow man? That’s not nice at all.”
