Rivers: Expert attributes incessant kidnappings to lack of credible intelligence

A security expert, Godspower Ipianeh has attributed the incessant kidnapping in Rivers State to a lack of efficient intelligence mechanism.

Ipianeh told our correspondent that any particular crime that thrives for long, it means that the security apparatus lacks what it takes to quell such crime.

“One major security apparatus that if lacking, you can not effectively tackle crime, is credible intelligence mechanism which is what is lacking in Rivers State.

“These kidnappers are human beings and they live in communities. How come only when they have committed crimes that security agents will start going after them?

“If effective intelligence mechanisms were put in place, most of the crimes would have been averted before the crimes were committed,” he said.

The security expert also blamed politicians for equipping boys with arms during elections, leaving the boys with the option of using such weapons for other criminal purposes.
