Lagos State Governor, Babjide Sanwo-Olu, gave a cash reward to the best graduating student of Lagos State University (LASU), Olaniyi Mubaraq Olawale, Accounting Education, the sum of N10 million, who stood out with a CGPA of 4.98.
This was disclosed on Thursday via the X handle of Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the state governor, stating that Sanwo-Olu made the announcement during the Grand Finale of the 27th Convocation Ceremony.
“The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Jidesanwoolu, has announced a token of Ten Million Naira (10,000,000) for the overall best graduating student of Lagos State University (@LASUOfficial), Olaniyi Mubaraq Olawale, Accounting Education, who graduated with a CGPA of 4.98. ”
“Mr. Governor made this announcement today at the Lagos State University (LASU) Grand Finale of the 27th Convocation Ceremony,” Gawat described.

Balogun Ridwan, an X user, hailed the governor and described how his kind gesture should be emulated by other state governors.
“Lagos leads while others follow. This kind of compensation should be emulated by other state governors and other stakeholders; the value education brings to society cannot be underrated.”

Some are of the suggestion that the money would have been divided among other students who did their best as well.
