The Gokana chapter of the Tonye Princewill Support Group has warned some political opponents, saying it would hold them responsible if anything happens to the 2023 APC deputy governorship candidate in Rivers State, Dr innocent Barikor.

The group issued the warning, following the recent attack on Barikor in Port Harcourt, the state capital by some yet to be identified gunmen.

It was gathered that Barikor had left his office on Tuesday night for a meeting, not knowing that the gunmen were on his trail.

It was further gathered that the gunmen aimed at the police officer attached to Barikor immediately they sighted his vehicle, killing the security agent on the spot.

Speaking with our correspondent, the chapter chairman of the group, Keanyie Benson said, “Barikor does not deserve to be attacked for accepting the running mate slot of the APC and that no political opponents should make any attempt on his life.

“We will hold certain political opponents responsible if anything happens to Barikor.

“We are equally using this medium to call on the police to unravel the assailants of Barikor and bring them to book without delay.”

The group further condoled with the family of the slain police officer attached to the state APC deputy governorship candidate, praying God to comfort the bereaved over their loss.
