Port Harcourt Club Football Academy ends holiday programme

The Port Harcourt Club 1928 Football Academy has ended its holiday football camp.

The Honorary General Secretary of Port Harcourt Club Nnamdi Nwuche made the declaration during a novelty match between the under-13 and under-15 boys to end the holiday football camp of Port Harcourt Club Football Academy.

Nnamdi Nwuche said the club is committed to developing sports at the grassroots level in the State.

He noted that the aim of the football academy is to unearth new stars that will represent the state and the country in different competitions.

In his comment, the immediate Captain of the Football Section of Port Harcourt Club 1928, Humble Whyte said they want to use the football academy to groom talented players to become future superstars.

Humble Whyte said Port Harcourt Club Football Academy is currently working to secure a partnership with a football academy in the United States of America.

He also commended the efforts of the former goalkeeper of the Super Eagles Peter Rufai in its bid to secure kits and scholarships for the players in the football academy.

The Coach of the team Tony Chukwu said the holiday football camp programme was a huge success.

He revealed that the players have learned how to be disciplined during the holiday programme.

The coach also attributed indiscipline as the bane of football development in Nigeria.

On the issue of selection at the national teams, Tony Chukwu called on the handlers of the team to select players based on merit.

He pointed out that players abound in the country but are not scouted out by national team handlers.

The captain of the under-13 team Favour Chukwuma while commending the club for the holiday camping programme said they are now better players.
