Police nab gun manufacturer, POS robbers in Imo

The Imo State police command has apprehended three suspected armed robbers in the Isu Njaba council area of the state.

A local gun manufacturer identified as Ozor Nwako was arrested alongside two others, identified as Obiaka Uchenna and Michael Ihunna, caught with a POS machine.

According to a statement by the state’s police spokesperson, Mike Abattam said the arrest resulted from the charge by the State Commissioner of police on his men to rid the state of crime.

He disclosed that Uchenna and Ihunna were notorious armed robbers terrorising the state with dangerous arms bought from Nwako, who manufactures the guns for them.

He said that the confession of the two armed robbers led to the capture of the gun manufacturer.

Abattam said that on the orders of the state Police commissioner, Rabiu Hussaini, the police embarked on a stop and search patrol in every area of the state, which led to the arrest of the gun manufacturer, who claimed to be a welder.

The police spokesman said upon searching the suspects, several items were recovered, including two (2) locally made pistols, one live cartridge, one expanded cartridge, one Jackknife, and one Pax POS Machine.

Other items include some quantity of weed suspected to be Indian Hemp, two MTN Sim Cards, two Airtel Sim Cards, two Memory Cards, one Infinix Charger, one Wrist Watch, one Bangle, one white cap, two flat slippers and four screwdrivers.

“Investigation is ongoing, and efforts are on top gear to arrest other members of their gang mentioned during interrogation. However, as soon as the investigation is concluded, the suspects will be charged to court,” he assured.
