LIVING WITHOUT APOLLO THIS SEASON

We are in the season of conjunctivitis popularly known as Apollo, in order not to be a victim, I bring to you practical ways, which you can prevent Apollo.

Conjunctivitis is the redness (inflammation) of the transparent membrane covering the white of the eyes (conjunctiva) cause by infections (which may be bacterial or viral), allergies (to substance such as pollen) or irritants (such as smoke or certain chemicals).

It may affect one or both eyes and it can spread easily from one eye to the other.

SYMPTOMS OF CONJUNCTIVITIS INCLUDE:

  • Redness and/or itchiness of the eyes
  • A gritty feeling or burning sensation in the eyes.
  • Watery/sticky discharge from the eyes which may form crust at night during sleep making eye opening difficult.

Most conjunctivitis usually caused by viral infections will clear within a week or two; there is currently no treatment available for viral conjunctivitis.

Eye drops containing Anti-histamines, anti-inflammation drugs and other DIY may be prescribed to treat allergic conjunctivitis while antibiotic eye drops or ointments may be prescribed for bacterial conjunctivitis.

PEOPLE WITH GREATER CHANCE OF GETTING CONJUNCTIVITIS INCLUDE:

Those close to person with conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis from infections is very easily spread to other people around you.

  • Older people. Older people’s immune systems may be less able to fight the infections.
  • Children are more likely to be in close contact with other children with eye infections at school or playing.
  • Those who’ve had a recent cold or upper respiratory tract infection.
  • People with diabetes or conditions that can lessen the body’s defenses.
  • Those taking steroids (corticosteroids).
  • Having blepharitis infection causing inflammation of the rims of the rims of the eyelids.

CAUSES OF CONJUNCTIVITIS INCLUDE:

  • Bacterial or viral infection
  • Infection with a virus that may also cause a fever and sore throat
  • Sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including Chlamydia and Gonorrhea
  • Irritants such as chlorine from swimming pools, shampoo, smoke, fumes or a loose eyelash
  • Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis and perennial ( all year round) allergic conjunctivitis, caused by pollen, dust mites or pet dander
  • Contact dermatoconjunctivitis, from eye drops, environmental allergens are suggested by symptoms which vary with seasonality, time of day, geography and nature of landscape (e.g., rural, urban, oceanic), chemicals or make-up
  • Giant papillary conjunctivitis, from wearing contact lenses, eye surgery stitches or tubes or things fitted during eye operations.

SPREAD OF CONJUNCTIVITIS CAN BE PREVENTED BY THE PRACTICE OF GOOD HYGIENE WHICH INCLUDES:

  • Regular hand washing
  • Use of clean towels
  • Avoiding sharing of towels
  • Avoiding the sharing of eye cosmetics
  • Avoiding touching your eyes.

CONJUNCTIVITIS DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT INCLUDE:

Seek medical advice if you have conjunctivitis symptoms – especially extra sensitivity to light, severe eye pain or blurred eyesight. Babies with conjunctivitis need urgent medical care.

It is important for a health professional to work out which kind of conjunctivitis it is so the right treatment can be given, when necessary, to clear up the discomfort and avoid possible complications.

In many cases, conjunctivitis caused by infections will clear up after a couple of weeks without treatment. However, some kinds of conjunctivitis are more serious or are a sign of another serious condition or eye problem such as glaucoma.

A sample of the discharge from an eye may be taken with a swab for laboratory testing.

Since we now know about “Apollo” and its prevention, let’s stop the spread of it and have the most wonderful season.

its our season ooh!

Managing Stress In the Work Place

Businessman with head in hands

Work place stress is a common phenomenon and it is taking it’s toll on lives daily with devastating effects and no one is immune to it. Anyone who is working or has ever held a job, would at some point, felt the pressure of work-related stress. Any job can have stressful elements, even if you love what you do so much. In the short-term, you may experience pressure to meet a deadline or to fulfill a challenging obligation. But when work stress becomes chronic, it can be overwhelming and harmful to both physical and emotional health.

A 2017 survey carried out by Dr Olabode Shabi, Chairman of the Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria, (SFPN) Ekiti Zone, has said that over seven million Nigerians currently suffer stress and depression.

The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that the medical consultant made this disclosure at Ado Ekiti in a ceremony organized by the Information Chapel of the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) recently.

In a paper titled “’Stress and Depression in Workplace: Strategic approach to management’’ he described stress as an exaggeration of normal physical response to events and life challenges that makes a person feel threatened or upset in some ways.

He added that depression was a common mental health problem that affect 29 million persons in Africa, out of an estimated 322 million people currently affected worldwide. This claim is corroborated by the American Psychological Association’s (APA) annual Stress in America Survey report of 2017 shows over 78 Percent are stressed out this was captured in the APA 10Th Edition Publication, Stress in America.

TPCN Online has also found that job-related stress is a serious issue and has informed the bringing to the fore this silent killer. You can’t always avoid the tensions that occur on the job. Yet you can take steps to manage work-related stress.

Work Stress can be traced to several factors:

A cropped shot of a handsome businessman under strain as colleagues request various things from him

Certain factors tend to go hand-in-hand with work-related stress. Some common workplace stressors are:

  • Low salaries.
  • Social media induced constant checker syndrome.
  • Excessive workloads.
  • Few opportunities for growth or advancement.
  • Work that isn’t engaging or challenging.
  • Lack of social support.
  • Not having enough control over job-related decisions.
  • Conflicting demands or unclear performance expectations.
  • Poor interpersonal relationship with colleagues and superiors in various offices as well as low trust level and lack of problem shared.
  • Poor working environment
  • lack of job security occasioned by fear of redundancy and early retirement
  • Conditions outside the work-place also create stress levels such as low literacy level, poverty, short life expectancy, negative life events such as bereavement, job loss, financial difficulties, divorce, loneliness, childhood abuse and neglected medical illnesses.
  • Finally, exposure to chronic pains as well as imbibing some mentally stressful lifestyles such as misuse of certain prescription drugs and abuse of substances such as cocaine, narcotics, Tramadol and alcohol.

Effects If Left Uncontrolled Stress

Unfortunately, work-related stress doesn’t just disappear when you head home for the day. When stress persists, it can take a toll on your health and well-being.

A great number of side effects is not something extraordinary for the drug. It is also not something that “happened to someone else, but won’t happen to me”. The reason is that any narcotic and lots of drugs, including Klonopin from https://holisticdental.org/klonopin-for-anxiety/, are poisons. Poisons kill fast. However, if you take a lower dose, they will affect your well-being, body and mood. And this effect may be stimulating or, on the contrary, relaxing, like in case of this medicine. Poisons cause diseases, and the more you use them, the more physical and mental disorders you will have.

In the short term, a stressful work environment can contribute to problems such as headache, stomachache, sleep disturbances, short temper and difficulty concentrating. Chronic stress can result in anxiety, insomnia, high blood pressure and a weakened immune system. It can also contribute to health conditions such as depression, obesity and heart disease. Compounding the problem, people who experience excessive stress often deal with it in unhealthy ways such as overeating, eating unhealthy foods, smoking cigarettes or abusing drugs and alcohol.

Steps to Effective Management of Stress

  • Track your stressors. Keep a diary for a week or two to identify which situations create the most stress and how you respond to them. Record your thoughts, feelings and information about the environment, including the people and circumstances involved the physical setting and how you reacted. Did you raise your voice? Snapped by destroying or smashing something? Go for a walk? Taking notes can help you find patterns among your stressors and your reactions to them.
  • Develop healthy responses. Instead of attempting to fight stress with fast food or alcohol, do your best to make healthy choices when you feel the tension rise. Exercise is a great stress-buster. Yoga can be an excellent choice, but any form of physical activity is beneficial. Also make time for hobbies and favorite activities. Whether it’s reading a novel, going to concerts or playing games with your family, make sure to set aside time for the things that bring you pleasure. Getting enough good-quality sleep is also important for effective stress management. Build healthy sleep habits by limiting your caffeine intake late in the day and minimizing stimulating activities, such as computer and television use, at night.
  • Establish boundaries. In today’s digital world, it’s easy to feel pressure to be available 24 hours a day. Establish some work-life boundaries for yourself. That might mean making a rule not to check email from home in the evening, or not answering the phone during dinner. Although people have different preferences when it comes to how much they blend their work and home life, creating some clear boundaries between these realms can reduce the potential for work-life conflict and the stress that goes with it.
  • Take time to recharge. To avoid the negative effects of chronic stress and burnout, we need time to replenish and return to our pre-stress level of functioning. This recovery process requires “switching off” from work by having periods of time when you are neither engaging in work-related activities, nor thinking about work. That’s why it’s critical that you disconnect from time to time, in a way that fits your needs and preferences. Don’t let your vacation days go to waste. When possible, take time off to relax and unwind, so you come back to work feeling reinvigorated and ready to perform at your best. When you’re not able to take time off, get a quick boost by turning off your Smartphone and focusing your attention on non-work activities for a while.
  • Learn how to relax. Techniques such as meditation, deep breathing exercises and mindfulness (a state in which you actively observe present experiences and thoughts without judging them) can help melt away stress. Start by taking a few minutes each day to focus on a simple activity like breathing, walking or enjoying a meal. The skill of being able to focus purposefully on a single activity without distraction will get stronger with practice and you’ll find that you can apply it to many different aspects of your life.
  • Talk to your supervisor or Boss. Healthy employees are typically more productive, so your boss has an incentive to create a work environment that promotes employee well-being. Start by having an open conversation with your supervisor. The purpose of this isn’t to lay out a list of complaints, but rather to come up with an effective plan for managing the stressors you’ve identified, so you can perform at your best on the job. While some parts of the plan may be designed to help you improve your skills in areas such as time management, other elements might include identifying employer-sponsored wellness resources you can tap into, clarifying what’s expected of you, getting necessary resources or support from colleagues, enriching your job to include more challenging or meaningful tasks, or making changes to your physical workspace to make it more comfortable and reduce strain.
  • Get some support. Accepting help from trusted friends and family members can improve your ability to manage stress. Your employer may also have stress management resources available through an employee assistance program (EAP) or Staff Welfare Program, including online information, available counseling and referral to mental health professionals, if needed. If you continue to feel overwhelmed by work stress, you may want to talk to a psychologist, who can help you better manage stress and change unhealthy behavior.
  • Be Realistic: develop the ability to refrain from problems, focus on positive things, accepting things one cannot change.
  • Abstain from Drugs Misuse: Abuse of prescription drugs may also trigger stress levels. It is advisable to stick to proper prescription regimen and seek medical advice from your doctor or Pharmacist on drug use.
  • Avoid the constant checker Syndrome: The Smartphone advent is meant to make lives easier but a closer look has found that it is linked to 40 percent stress level inducement due to its effects of relationships, family, work, overall health and well being.. The need to constantly stay connect has caused sleep deprivation, accidents, deaths and work place incidents and job loss. One should try to limit the use and switch off when necessary. This will help in keeping one’s mind at rest.

HOW TO MAKE LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP WORK

Long distant relationships come with their own unique challenges. It’s hard, I agree, but there are people who are making it work. To have a healthy long distant relationship, there must be a close and constant communication. Nowadays it’s a lot easier than it used to be. Now we have Skype, computers, tablets and smart phones.

I tell people that long distant relationship is not for everybody. It works for some people and don’t work for others. For me, I like long distant relationship. I love space, I love seeing my man once in a while. My love for him grows when I miss him so much. Absence they say makes the heart grow funder.  For others they love to see their partners every day. They feel they are giving room for infidelity if they don’t see often. Whatever works for you, go for it.

What kills long distance relationships is lack of communication. Take the time to figure out how and when is best to communicate with each other, especially video calls. Work at making each other feel special, even without seeing each other. Be open, honest, and trusting.  Just because you’re apart doesn’t mean that you’ve lost your need for intimacy and self-esteem, so take every opportunity to make each other feel good and encourage each other. You could write each other love letters, beautiful poems, or even send each other little gifts for no reason. Whatever it is – the most important thing is that thought goes into it, and that you make each other feel special

To maintain a long distance relationship, there must be an end goal, for example being reunited and being with each other at the end of that year. Without that end goal, it will really be difficult to sustain a long distance relationship. Not knowing when you’re going to be properly reunited with your partner makes you feel uncertain, anxious and worried about whether he or she’s seeing somebody else. That’s why the most important thing is knowing when you’re both seeing each other again.  If you don’t have dates for reuniting, it’s only natural for couples to drift apart.

The hardest part is saying goodbye and counting down the months, weeks and days till next time. But in, you know they are worth the wait.

W.H.O SIMPLE MALARIA CONTROL PLAN -ABCD APPROACH

  • ABCD
    • Malaria Control Plan – The Key Components

Malaria can often be prevented by using anti-malaria drugs and by using personal protection measures to prevent mosquito bites.

The key components of the Kegoz MCP are based on the World Health Organization’s “ABCD” systematic preventative measures of:

  • Awareness

Ensuring that all personnel are educated in identifying the risks, the prevention, and the identification of early signs and symptoms.

  • Bite Prevention

Which is the most effective and important means of preventing malaria.

  • Chemical Prophylaxis

(The anti-malaria medication) is a critical component of the MCP.

  • Diagnosis and Treatment

Importance of early diagnosis and program evaluation.

Self – protection measures and best practices.

The goal of personal protection measure is to avoid coming into contact with mosquitoes and thus avoid mosquito’s bites. Every individual should be aware of and practice the following protective measures:

  • Mosquito Skin Repellent – Mosquito skin repellent containing DEET should be used.

Care must be taken to avoid contact with mucous membranes. Insect repellents should not be sprayed on the face or applied to the eyelids or lips. Hands must always be washed after repellent is applied. Insect repellents should not be applied to sensitive, sunburned or damaged skin or deep skin folds.

Repeated applications may be required every 3-4 hours, especially in hot and humid climates.

Repellants should be used in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and the dosage must not be exceeded, especially for young children.

Each work site maintains a stock of approved mosquito repellant and supply employees when requested.

  • Bed Nets (at onshore sites only) – Permethrin treated mosquito nets are made available for each sleeping area or bed of employees which does not have effective air conditioning. The bed nets will be used where mosquito proofing is not possible or is ineffective.

  • Protective Clothing can help at times of the night when mosquitoes are active. The thickness of the material is critical. No skin should be left exposed unless treated with a repellant. Insect repellant applied to clothing is effective for longer than it may be on the skin. Extra protection is provided by treating clothing with permethrin or etofenprox, to prevent mosquitoes from biting through clothing. Label instructions should be followed to avoid damage to certain fabrics. It should not be applied to underwear, hats, waterproof materials or special gear.

All personnel, including when offshore, should wear long sleeve shirts and long trousers during night working hours. Usage of long sleeve shirts and long trousers during non-working hours is also strongly encouraged at night.

The model is talking about booking her latest gig, modeling WordPress underwear in the brand latest Perfectly Fit campaign, which was shot by Lachian Bailey. It was such a surreal moment cried she admitted.

The main thing that you have to remember on this journey is just be nice to everyone and always smile.

It’s kind of confusing because I’m a bigger girl, Dalbesio says. I’m not the biggest girl on the market but I’m definitely bigger than all the girls [Calvin Klein] has ever worked with, so that is really intimidating. She wasn’t sure, she said of the shoot, what was expected from her in terms of her size or shape.

Refreshingly, what was expected of her was the same thing that was expected of Lara Stone: to take a beautiful picture.

You must learn one thing. The world was made to be free in. Give up all the other worlds Except the one in which you belong.

So simple, yet so essential, the white shirt is the foundation of any wardrobe. It’s also the most multi-functional item, taking you from work to play with just the quick unfastening of a couple of buttons. Calvin Klein known for launching the careers of such svelte models as Brooke Shields and Kate Moss to cast a model who deviates from the size standard and make a fuss about it to Dalbesio who spent years.

There was a time in the industry not too long ago, when it seemed that the high fashion world was using plus size models as a headline-grabbing gimmick see the groundbreaking Italian Vogue cover featuring Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine, and Robyn Lawley in June 2016.

Taking the world into my arms

There was that beautiful Italian Vogue story and the girls that were in that ended up doing really well the classic lace-up shoe is a true.

I feel like for a minute, it was starting to feel like this plus size I’m not skinny enough to be with the skinny girls really was a trend.

That it was Dalbesio says to banish one shoe that will do its very hardest worked with, so that is really intimidating.

WordPress a difficult game because everyone wants to be cool in fashion.

Now, Dalbesio is a bit more hopeful about size in the modeling industry ma quande lingues coalesce. In the middle Occidental in fact she says not skinny enough.

To find my place. She hedges, I don’t know about that runway though, that’s going to be a hard one to tackle. Everyone realizes why a new common language would be desirable: one could refuse to pay expensive translators.

The most beautiful people we have known are those:

  • the system and expound the actual teachings
  • great explorer of the truth

To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure?

On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee.
