A former commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, God knows Ipianeh has thrown his weight behind the carrying of arms by the civilians of Nigeria as part of measures to curb the disturbing spate of insecurity in the country.
Ipianeh told our correspondent that the disturbing trend of insecurity in the country has made it imperative for the federal government to allow civilians to bear arms.
The security expert wondered “why the nation’s military and paramilitary keep recruiting personnel every year, yet insecurity is growing faster in the country.
“Then what are the personnel they are recruiting every year doing to reduce insecurity in the country?
“I think every Nigerian should volunteer his or herself for a diplomatic campaign against insecurity and the federal government should as well allow civilians to bear arms.”
Ipianeh also acknowledged security sabotage in the security sector as one of the factors giving rise to insecurity in the country.
You recall that the alarming state of insecurity in the country has reached where terrorists could publicly threaten to capture the nation’s sitting president, Muhammadu Buhari.
