Landlord inflicts machete cuts on tenants in Port Harcourt

A Landlord identified as Alabo has inflicted a severe machete cut on a female tenant, Comfort Nwagadi, and her husband Stanley Nwagadi, at their compound in Ekwulobia Street, Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt, after severally taunting her for dating and housing a man he claims she feeds and takes care of.

Narrating her ordeal to our correspondent on her hospital bed, Comfort Nwagadi said that on Sunday 15 May 2022, she washed and spread her clothes on the compound rope, Alabo who is one of the landlords of the building where she resides removed her clothes and threw them on the ground.

According to her, when she went to pick up the clothes, the landlord started raining abuse on her, just the way he normally taunt her that she is keeping a man she feeds and takes care of.

She explained that at that point, her fiance came in and heard the landlord’s utterance against her, and there was an exchange of words between her fiance and the said Alabo.

Comfort disclosed that after the exchange of words between her fiance and the Alabo, they dressed up and went out but unknown to them that the said Alabo had sharpened a machete and was waiting for their return.

She said the moment she walked inside the compound from where they went, the landlord rushed and attacked her with a machete which he used to cut her severally on her body. Her fiancee who heard her screaming and rushed to save her, also got a machete cut twice on his head and hand before the landlord ran away.

On his part, Stanley Nwagadi told our correspondent that he rushed to save his fiancee when he heard her scream but was given machete cuts by the said Alabo who is now on the run.

Stanley, however, called for justice on the matter.

Our correspondent who visited the intending couple at the hospital reports that Comfort has four machete cuts on the head, and three on her fingers while the fiance Stanley has two machete cuts on the head and one machete cut on the left hand.

Police Officers from Azikiwe Police Division, Iloabouchi Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt have also visited the intending couple at the hospital.
