At an event organised at the Abuja Jabamah by the Wonders of Nigeria Expo last weekend, Akwa Ibom State emerged the winner from among selected states that have invested in tourism in the preceding year and has continued to win national admiration, with the state emerging as the Nigerian Top Tourist State 2020.
Investment in business and leisure development in the state has yielded impacts with the establishment of nationally celebrated Ibom Airline, the completion of the 22 Storey Dakkada Towers, the completion of the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, the restructuring of the Ibom Icon Hotels, and the revamp in secondary and quaternary health care delivery systems in the state.
Also, the institution of events such as the Christmas village and other socio-cultural activities and restoration of peace and security in the hitherto volatile state, which have led to the establishment of several industries, have all boosted the tourism drive of Akwa Ibom state.
