Northerners vow to attack Rivers motorbike snatchers

Northern motorcycle operators in Rivers State have vowed to use all attacking means to protect their moto bikes from snatchers.

The decision came after incessant snatching of motorbikes at the ONELGA axis of the state which the northern operators had described as one too many.

They said enough is enough, adding that they had patiently waited for the security agents to recover their stolen motorbikes for them but of no avail.

Lamenting the development to our correspondent, the Leader of the Hausa community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state, Alhaji Mustafa Abdullahi said his northern brothers are planning to use attacking measures to deter motorbike snatchers from robbing them.

“Motorbike snatchers are disturbing our northern brothers here in ONELGA.

“Our brothers are losing their motorbikes to snatchers almost every day and the security agents are aware.

“Our brothers want to take the laws into their hands as it seems the security agents are not doing much but I have been pleading with them not to take the laws into their hands,” Abdullahi said.

Similarly, in Abam-Ama community in Okrika LGA of the state, a motorbike operator from Akwa-Ibom State lost his bike to snatchers.

A senior police officer attached to the Okrika Police Division who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on condition of anonymity because she has not been authorized to speak to the press said the motorbike was stolen some days ago.

The officer assured that her division will not allow the area to be a breeding ground for criminals, warning motorbike snatchers and other criminals to exit Okrika now.
