More jubilation has continued to greet the camp of some undocumented Niger Delta ex-militants over the suspension of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Coordinator, Prof Charles Dokubo by President Muhammadu Buhari last week.

The 3rd Phase of the Undocumented Niger Delta Ex-agitators had earlier called on Charles Dokubo to either resign or they would prevail on Buhari to sack him.

Speaking with our correspondent from Delta State via telephone, the leader of the group, Comrade Prince Eyeyon said: “We are happy with the suspension of Prof Charles Dokubo by the President because they have turned the Presidential Amnesty Programme into a scam to dupe us.

“Prof Dokubo promised to document and pay us our arrears and up till the time of his suspension, he didn’t fulfil any of the promises.

“We also want the federal government to carry out a thorough investigation on the presidential amnesty office and consider carrying us along as well.

“Prof Dokubo has failed in his duties as the presidential coordinator on amnesty.

“This was the same mistake Gen. Paul Boro made that led to his sack.

“Prof Dokubo who we thought will right the wrong has failed woefully.

“Any presidential coordinator on amnesty who failed to document us is not fit to be there.

“That office was created because of us.

“We genuinely surrender our arms, renounce militancy and went through the amnesty process as required by the federal government, yet the government has decided to abandon us.

“All the promises of monthly stipends. scholarships and vocational training by the federal government to us have not come to pass.

“We are worried because we see this attitude of government as deceptive.

“However, we will continue to demand our legitimate entitlements until we get them.”
