The Rivers State House of Assembly has charged the house committee on education to be more proactive in tackling cases of sexual harassment by lecturers on students in institutions across the state.
IKUNYI OWAJI IBANI, the speaker of the house who made the charge on the floor of the house on Thursday said the committee must reach out to institutions in the state and warn them to stay away from acts that will be inimical to students in the state.
IBANI who represents Andoni constituency urged the committee to beam its searchlight to forestall such acts in the state.
The speaker said the committee must reach out and defend the girl-child and males in institutions across the state.
