Tems Dismisses Pregnancy Rumors, Reflects on Musical Influences

Multiple award-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name Tems, has responded to rumors suggesting she was pregnant by American rapper, Future.

The speculation began when Tems attended Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2024 show during London Fashion Week last December.

She was seen wearing a black dress paired with a purple fluffy coat and matching heels. Observers claimed the way the dress hugged her body hinted at a possible pregnancy and began spreading rumors.

During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Tems, in utter confusion, addressed the rumor and questioned why Future was the one linked to her supposed pregnancy.

“People just take the most controversial things. Because I was thinking, why am I pregnant for the future? Why Future? Because that’s the craziest,” she said.

Tems expressed her surprise at why other famous names weren’t thrown into the mix, saying, “Why not Wizkid? Why not Drake? Why not somebody else? If it was Drake, it would be the same thing but the reason why it is Future is because of his reputation.”

Tems and Drake have worked together on two occasions. The first was on Drake’s song Fountains, and the second was as guest artist on Future’s Wait 4 U, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

She further pointed out Future’s well-known history, adding, “He has about five kids. And has a reputation of being a ladies’ man.”

In addition to addressing the rumors, Tems, when asked about artists who have influenced and motivated her throughout her career, had a list of reputable rap artists of which she cited were Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Ab-Soul, Andre 3000, and J. Cole.
