Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, recently expressed her admiration for Canadian pop star Justin Bieber during an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show.

Reflecting on their time together, Tems referred to Bieber as “one of the purest souls I have ever met,” praising his kindness and support.

Tems shared a memorable moment from earlier this year when she brought both Wizkid and Bieber onstage during her performance at Coachella.

According to Tems, Wizkid was in town and readily agreed to join her onstage for the event. “We asked if he minded coming on, and he was like, yeah, of course, I’m going to come out,” she recalled.

The surprise appearance, however, came from Justin Bieber himself. On the day of the performance, she received an unexpected text from Bieber, offering to join her set. “I got a text from Justin Bieber, he was like, ‘I’m around in case you want to bring me out,’” Tems said.

Emphasizing how Bieber’s presence electrified the crowd, she said, “The ground was shaking. Everybody was losing their minds. I was a bit startled. Justin, I love you!”

The collaboration between Wizkid, Tems, and Justin Bieber began with their work on the remix of the global hit song Essence, which became a cultural phenomenon worldwide.

Tems is a positive representative of Nigeria. In 2022, Tems took home the BET Awards for Best International Act and Best Collaboration for her work on Wizkid’s hit “Essence.”

She followed up in 2023 by winning the Best Collaboration award for her song with Drake and Future, “Wait for U,” which also won the same honor at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards.

The Grammy-winning artist Tems triumphed over notable names like Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, and Maverick City Music to win the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the 2024 ceremony for her song “Me & U.”
