Rivers people not boy-boy – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said that some people who were accused of rape attended the defection ceremony of the former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau.

Shekarau defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the Peoples Democratic Party on Monday.

Wike who didn’t mention the name of the said rapists, said that they were from Rivers State.

The governor has been in political battle with the loyalists of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku’s loyalists in Rivers State include Lee Maeba, Austin Opara, Chinenye Igwe and Celestine Omehia.

Maeba had earlier this month accused Wike of vowing to kill him and others for supporting the former vice-president.

While commissioning the sandfilling of the Ogbu-na-abalị swamp on Tuesday, Wike said “I was watching Channels TV yesterday and I saw some rapists at the defection ceremony of Shekarau.

“They go to welcome others into the party in other states but have never brought anyone into the party here(Rivers). They’re proud of doing boy-boy work.

“They want to sit in Abuja but don’t want to come home and do the real work. It’s operation deliver your polling unit and local government. Come home”.
