The Rivers State House of Assembly on Tuesday, passed the state’s N438.1bn 2022 Appropriation Bill less than two weeks after the bill was presented to the House by Governor Nyesom Wike.
The budget was passed after the committee of supply headed by the speaker of the House Ikuiyi Awaji Ibani submitted the report to the House.
Lawmakers also made various comments on the budget commending the work that was done by the Appropriation Committee.
25 members of the House voted to pass the bill after the question was put by the speaker.
Speaking after passing the bill, the speaker commended the committee on appropriation for following the budgetary process and interfacing with the government Ministries Departments and Agencies during the process.
The Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Enemi George said the financial plan would further improve the wellbeing of the Rivers people.
Speaking with journalists after the House proceedings; the Leader of the House, Martins Amaehule assured Rivers people that political activities in the coming year will not affect the oversight responsibilities of the lawmakers.
