Former Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Magnus Abe, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Rivers State.
This comes barely 24 hours after the former senator announced his membership with the party.
Abe emerged the party’s flagbearer for the 2023 governorship election on Saturday after a fresh governorship primary was conducted in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The primary followed the withdrawal of the former SDP candidate Maurice Pronem from the race.
Abe pulled 30 delegate votes to emerge unopposed in the exercise which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Recall that Abe had resigned from APC following fresh crisis rocking the party in the state.
