Prophetess sentenced to life imprisonment in Port Harcourt dies 2 days after

A Prophetess Edina Lovely-Worleru who was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by a Rivers High Court Sitting in Port Harcourt has died in prison after two days of beginning her jail term.

Recall that Lovely-Worleru who was a prophetess with a spiritual Church, in Rumuche community in Emohua Local Government Area of the state, was reported to have prepared a poisonous substance in the name of love portion for Onyema Bright-Worlu to administer on her man-friend, late Israel Georgewill who was also a Prophet in another spiritual Church within the community.

Justice Adolphus Enebeli had on the 16th of September, 2021, sentenced her to life imprisonment for manslaughter.

In an interview with the State Prosecution Counsel, Chidi Ekeh, he said the accused Edina Lovely-Worleru died on Saturday, 18 September, two days after being convicted, following a brief illness.

Ekeh said the remains of Late Edina Lovely Worleru is still the property of the federal government despite being dead and would not be released to her family for burial.

“She was convicted and taken to prison same day, Thursday, 16th September, 2021, but on Friday, the 17th, she fell sick and they took her to the hospital from the prison and she did not return from the hospital, she eventually died on Saturday 18 September.

“Her people are now trying to take her corpse from the prison to go and Bury. Unfortunately, that is an uphill task. Her body remains the property of the federal government. She has not been discharged, she was convicted and she must serve her jail term even in death.”
