Residents and business owners around Ntawogba creek at the Okija street axis in Port Harcourt are counting their losses and damage meted on them by flooding occasioned by the overflow of the creek.

This is following the recent heavy rain which drenched the entire area last week.

Residents and business owners around the Ntaworgba Creek at Ojija street said water from the creek overflew into their shops.

Some business owners around the area alleged that the overflow of water into their shops is a result of poor drainage systems in the city of Port Harcourt.

An environmentalist and lecturer at the Rivers State University, Olu Andah Wai-Ogosu advised the government to construct drains with regards to the volume of rainfall.

Also speaking, a real estate consultant, Anderson Chukwumaeze, advised residents to carry out a thorough investigation of a proposed location before renting or buying a house for their residence or business place.
