The Commandant General Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, Ahmed Abubakar-Audi, has said the Corps will not relent in its effort to arrest, prosecute miscreants and criminals that specialize in sabotaging the nation’s assets.
The Commandant-General who gave the assurance while speaking to journalists during the parade of forty suspected Oil thieves at the Rivers State Civil Defence Command, Port Harcourt, said the Corps is poised to meet any group of persons or individuals intending to tamper with the critical National Assets and Infrastructure within the state with stiff resistance.
He noted that through the collaboration with other sister security agencies like the Navy, Nigerian Army, they arrested forty Suspected Oil thieves, 10 Trucks, 9 Boats, 69 Jerry Cans / Drums, 100 Petroleum Pipes and 83 Sacks filled With Suspected Adulterated Petroleum Products in different parts of the state.
“In the bid to checkmate the excesses of oil thieves and illegal Oil bunkering, as well as ensuring the critical national assets in the state are safe from economic saboteurs, the NSCDC Rivers State Command, in collaboration with other sister security agencies carried out the arrest. Other items recovered from the suspects include: Seven (7) Pumping Machines, Seven (7) 40HP Yamaha Engines, One (1) 90HP Yamaha Engine and Several Hoses used for acts of vandalism.
“The arrested suspects are currently undergoing thorough investigation and soon will be charge to court for possible prosecution.”
Abubakar-Audi, however, urged the general public to report any strange movement around them and the critical assets and Infrastructures in the state to the nearest security post for prompt action.
“We all know the effect vandalism has on our communities, it degrade and pollute the environment, it destroys our farmlands, thereby disallowing farmers from producing food for the nation. The devastating effect of vandalism is so intense and we need to come together to fight the menace.
“All the criminals involved in this act should relocate out of Rivers and Nigeria because anyone caught will not be spared. We call on the public to give us intelligent information on how to curb the activities of vandals.”
