Rivers State Governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement Party (NRM) Sobomabo Jackrich, has raised alarm alleging that the state government is planning to frame him up with trumped-up charges in order to stop him from participating in the March 18 governorship election.

Jackrich, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, claimed that the Rivers State government and its cohorts have perfected plans to blackmail him with trumped-up charges such as rape and child molestation amongst others.

According to him, the plan is to use security agency to arrest him and charge him for false and malicious crimes he never committed just to ruin his chances in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

He, however, alleged that a similar plot was carried out two years ago by the state government and they are trying to repeat the same because he stood against the subversion of the will of Rivers people during the February 25 presidential election held in the state.

“If you could recall two years ago when I earlier showed interest to run for the 2023 governorship election, I had raised alarm about how the State government in partnership with its agents had concluded plans to frame me up with trumped-up charges and God used someone to give me a tip of the information.

“Immediately I swung into action, granted a press conference, informed the security agencies, and that evil was aborted. Now, the government and its cohorts are on it again because of the level of commitment I have in trying to liberate Rivers State from the hands of these wicked leaders who can decide not to employ people until they are about to leave office in two days.

“They decide not to promote civil servants until they want to exit the office, they use it as bait to gain votes, such leadership I stand up against it, because I speak the truth of what is happening in the state they have once again plot to frame me up with same trumped up of two years ago.

“Their plan is to bring in someone they have conspired with and paid to claim that such act actually happened. The question is simple, I have been a candidate all this while, why is it now these trumped-up charges are coming?

“Is it because the mandate of the people was stolen and as one of the leading governorship candidates in the state, I stood up to say no, that is not our decision, our decision was for something else and the result presented to us does not correspond with what transpired. Now they have resolved plans to frame me up, arrest me and keep me away from the election.”

NRM governorship further called on the AIG and all security agencies, and relevant bodies, to investigate the alleged plot by the state government to frame him up and avert it from happening.

“For me and my Party we are not going to let go of anyone who comes out with any cheap calumny against me to ruin the hard-earned reputation I have built over the years. I will not relent, I must take those people to court of competent jurisdiction to prove it.

“I am calling on Rivers people to be aware of the plot of the state government and its cohorts to snare my name and make me look like a criminal in the eyes of the people that are out to support my candidature come March 18”.
