Youths from the Niger Delta region have expressed their gratitude to Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, for his recent decision to provide operational vehicles to the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). This commendation comes from the South-South Youths Initiative (SSYI), a group dedicated to advocating for the interests of young people in the region.

In a statement released on Sunday, Imeabe Oscar, the National President of SSYI, emphasized the importance of this gesture in enhancing the security landscape of Rivers State. “We commend the governor for heeding the call of the South-South Youths Initiative for the provision of operational vehicles for the NSCDC,” Oscar stated. “These vehicles will significantly improve the corps’ operations and contribute to the overall safety of our communities.”

Oscar noted that the governor’s proactive response demonstrates his commitment to quality leadership and his willingness to listen to the concerns of the people. “His prompt action shows that he is dedicated to ensuring the safety and welfare of our citizens,” he added.

The statement also urged Governor Fubara to continue his efforts in supporting youth initiatives across the state. “We call on the government to provide opportunities for our group and other meaningful youth organizations in the region to offer services that can benefit the people of Rivers State,” Oscar emphasized.

This recent provision of vehicles follows the governor’s earlier initiative to bolster the Rivers State Police Command with over 100 operational vehicles, highlighting a broader strategy to enhance security in the region. The SSYI’s call for support for the NSCDC was made shortly after this significant contribution to the police force, reflecting a growing recognition of the vital role the NSCDC plays in maintaining safety and security.

It is worth noting that the youths’ commendation reflects a positive relationship between the government and its constituents, showcasing how responsive governance can lead to community empowerment. As Rivers State continues to navigate various security challenges, the steps taken by Governor Fubara may prove crucial in fostering a safer environment for all residents.
