Man Flees To Evade Arrest Over Alleged Rape Of 14-Year-Old Daughter

A man identified as Chinedu, a resident of Anozie Street in Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has fled the State to evade arrest by the Police investigating the serial rape allegation of his fourteen-year-old daughter.

According to the report, the suspect has been defiling his fourteen-year-old daughter for the past two (2) years.

Sources revealed that residents became aware of the alleged abuse of his daughter following complaints made by the victim to a neighbor about her ordeal at the hands of the father.

We gathered that the neighbor alerted the Police on the development and the victim was taken to the Azikiwe Police Division at Iloabouchi, Mile 2 Diobu, where the matter was reported.

We further learned that the teenage girl in her statement alleged that her father had been sexually abusing her for the past two years.

Some residents disclosed to our Correspondent that the suspect fled his house before the arrival of Police detectives from the Azikiwe Division. At the time of filing this report, it was gathered that the victim’s mother who is the suspect’s estranged wife had taken the girl away.

When our Correspondent visited the suspect business area, on Thursday 26 September, 2024, his bar shop was under lock and key.

Meanwhile, a Rights Advocate and National Coordinator of the Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign, Prince Wiro, has called on residents with useful information on the whereabouts of the suspect to pass such information to the Police with a view to arresting the suspect to answer the allegation bordering on rape leveled against him.

Wiro explained that the veracity of the allegation cannot be ascertained if the suspect is not available for investigation.

The Spokesperson for Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko was yet to respond to an inquiry on the incident by our Correspondent.

However, multiple Police sources confirmed the incident.
