Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has unfollowed fellow artist Portable on Instagram after a recent dispute.

The fallout stems from a dinner in the United States, where Portable claims Davido gave him bad advice about signing with a music label.

Portable, known for his hit “Zazu,” alleged that Davido advised him against signing with Sony Music, where Davido himself is signed, and instead suggested he join Empire. Portable expressed frustration, stating that he, like Davido, aspires to win a Grammy, and he believes Empire might not support this goal as effectively as Sony Music.

The tension escalated when Davido unfollowed Portable on Instagram. In response, Portable declared that he does not need Davido’s support to achieve his goals. In a video shared on his Instagram, Portable remarked, “They tried to destroy me and quickly unfollowed me because I stopped being beneficial to them. Whether you help me or not, I will do my tour; whether you follow me or not, I will collect Grammy.”

Portable had previously mentioned that some individuals were attempting to create conflict between him and Davido. Despite these pressures, he stated that he has always appreciated Davido’s past support and resisted being pushed into a confrontation.

The social media drama between Portable and Davido has drawn significant attention, exposing the complexities and pressures within the music industry.
