The indigenes of the three Kalabari-speaking Local Government Areas of Rivers State have assured those wishing to return home for the Christmas celebration of 100 per cent security on the Emohua/Kalabari Road.
The security assurance became necessary following the incessant kidnappings and killings on the road which occurred some months ago before Alhaji Dokubo Asari deployed his armed men to secure the road.
Though some members of the Kalabari ethnic nationality who live, work and do business in places that are far from home may not know the degree of security that the Emohua/Kalabari Road now enjoys.
For this reason, the indigenes of the area through their IYC Clan Chairman, Edward Asikitams had come out to assure Xmas travellers of 100 per cent security on the road.
Asikitams who doubles as the General Commanding Officer of the Akuku-Toru Security Planning Advisory Committee told our correspondent that synergy had been built between the three council chairmen and the security agents to beef up internal security within the communities of the three LGAs.
He said, “our Xmas travellers have nothing to fear on the Emohua/Kalabari Road because the level of security on that road as I speak is 100 per cent.
“The armed men of our revered leader, Alhaji Asari had extended their security network on the road down to the mouth of Ogbakiri Junction.
“We are giving this security assurance to our Xmas travellers because every end-of-year festivity used to be very special to us being the season we usually showcase our cultural heritage and natural beauties.”
He also warned troublemakers to avoid the territory of the three Kalabari LGAs, adding that the security architecture in the area is sophisticated enough to deal decisively with anyone or group who wants to cause trouble in the area.
