A cross-section of Igbo speaking artisans in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital has rejected the recent declaration of the Biafran government allegedly credited to ex NIger Delta agitator, Asari Dokubo.

Asari had at the weekend declared himself as the current leader of the Biafra Customary Government.

The reports quoted Asari as saying that, “nobody can stop us. Nobody can block us as they did in the first war.

“We’re not going to fight any war with anybody; we’re walking to freedom. We will not shoot any gun with them, they will prepare their weapon but they will have nobody to kill with their weapon.”

In their separate reactions, the artisans described Asari as a betrayal.

Some of them who gave their names as Emeka Chidi, Charles Nwafor and Victor Ifeanyi among others told our correspondent that the only leader they know and recognize for Biafra is Nnamdi Kanu.

“Asari is just wasting his time. We, the Igbos don’t know him as our leader and he can never be our leader because we will not allow him to be.

“Where was he (Asari) when we were fighting for the sovereignty of Biafra? Is it now that we have almost achieved Biafra that he (Asari) wants to lead us, it can’t work.

“He, Asari is a betrayal and we will not allow such person to lead us. Our leader is Nnamdi Kanu and we stand by Kanu any day any time,” the artisans said.
