Herdsmen sack community in Eleme LGA

Some residents of the Agbeta II Tuabon community in Ebubu clan, Eleme Local Government have started relocating from the community days after a report of an alleged invasion of their farmlands by herdsmen.

Some of the residents of Agbeta II Tuabon community in Ebubu clan, said they are deserting their community following alleged attacks by Herdsmen operating in the area.

The Youth President of the Agbeta II Tuabon community Ebubu clan, Justice Kanikpo while speaking to newsmen on the recent development said the residents have deserted the community over reports of an alleged attack by the herdsmen.

He appealed to the Eleme Local Government Authority to come to the aid of the people.

The Youth leader said the community is frustrated that their appeals to the security agencies to intervene in the matter have not yielded positive results.

He, however, appealed to the State Government to come to their aid to save the community from what he described as an impending massacre.

For his part, the Chairman Council of Chiefs and Elders Agbeta II Tuabon community Ebubu clan, Kanyone Gbaranen said the farmers could no longer access their farmlands due to the activities of the herdsmen.

He, however, appealed to the government and security agencies to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile the Executive Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Obarillormate Ollor says his administration is on top of the situation.

Obarillormate Ollor while speaking to newsmen said he is working alongside the security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that the reported attacks do not happen again.

He, however, appealed to the residents of Agbeta II Tuabon community Ebubu clan in Eleme Local Government to remain calm and be vigilant as the security agencies will move into the area to restore normalcy.

The Eleme Chairman noted that the council has taken a decision on the incident and will soon commence implementation of the decision in a matter of days.
