Some female lawyers in Rivers State under the banner of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) have hailed the death sentence slammed on Ifeanyi Dike for killing 8yr old, Chikamso Victory in 2017.
Justice Adolphus Enebeli of the state high court had on Wednesday sentenced Ifeanyi Dike and his accomplice, Ugochukwu Wamiro to death by hanging, describing the killing of the 8yr old girl as sacrilegious murder.
In a unanimous excitement, the female lawyers who also prosecuted the defendants said the judgment was appropriate as they give God all the glory.
Another female lawyer and one time Public Relations Officer of FIDA in the state, Adata Bio-Briggs told our correspondent that the judgment had made the killing of the girl not to be in vain.
She said: “Chikamso’s death was not in vain. I pray this will serve as deterrent to other criminals to think twice.
“The weeping, crying, and throwing themselves on the floor in court yesterday by the families of the convicts proved that it was their own turn to cry just as they made Chikamso’s family cry years back.
“Justice has indeed been done.”
Other members of FIDA in the state including Barr Chibuzor Glady said the wicked will never go unpunished.
They said, ‘thanks be to God who heard the cry of the slain innocent girl and gave her justice at last “
