Members of disbanded local Vigilante Group (OSPAC) in Obelle town in Emohua Local Area have allegedly burnt down the house of Chief Israel Anele, a Former Acting Chairman of Community Development Community (CDC) of the community and ex-Divisional Police Officer (DPO).
Chief Anele in an interview with our correspondent stated that the disbanded OSPAC members were led by one ‘Naked Wire’ who was recently accused by the Emohua LGA Boss, Chidi Lylod of being responsible for the killings in Ibaa and Obelle town.
The Former DPO said the group invaded his house at about 4 pm Sunday 8 May 2022 threw his 70-year-old aunt out of the building, removed all the burglary proof in his house, poured petrol around the building and set his seven-bedroom flat ablaze.
He further disclosed that he has fled the state after the members of the disbanded OSPAC trailed him to his house in Port Harcourt.
The retired Police Officer said that he called the DPO of Rumuji Police Division on phone but was asked to come down to the station to make a formal report.
Recall that Obelle town has witnessed a resurgence of killings in recent weeks. Last Thursday, there was a report of the killing of two persons in Obelle town by gunmen suspected to be cultists.
The Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police command DSP Grace Iringe Koko, has informed journalists that Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday had deployed patrol vans to the community last month after two young men were killed on a farm road in Obelle.
