Christians across the country have begun a 7-day prayer of praise to destroy the deadly coronavirus pandemic in the land.
The commencement of the spiritual exercise followed a directive issued by the national leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
The prayer of praise programme which started on Monday is expected to end on Sunday, April 26.
In a statement he also made available to our correspondent, the state Chairman of CAN, Apostle (Dr) Stanley Dimkpa urged all church leaders to ensure that their members participate in the spiritual exercise.
“I wish to continue to appreciate God for curbing the spread of the coronavirus disease in our dear state and country.
“I humbly remind you revered ministers of God and all church leaders to get involved and continue to remind your churches to observe the ongoing 7 days prayer of praise against the COVID-19 as directed by the national leadership of CAN starting from Monday the 20th to the 26th of April 2020.
“This prayer of praise against the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to minimally last for 30 minutes every morning at homes with your families or in the church with few congregation.
“Let’s also be grateful to God for the cooperation and proactive measures taken by the government and all concerned agencies in the sate to fight the spread of this deadly disease as well as the cushioning of suffering on the state residents by providing palliatives.
“Unfortunately, the palliative committee had failed to engage and collaborate with the leadership of CAN and as such most poor Christians could not benefit from the very good gesture of the governor.
“We continue to appreciate the various church leaders, multinational companies and some sons and daughters of the state for their efforts and contributions in providing support both to the state government and the masses,” he stated.
