Katsina State Government has shut down access to Jibia-Gurbin-Baure road to all motorists effective Tuesday, August 31, 2021.
The government also closed Kankara-Sheme road to commercial vehicles and advised motorists plying the roads to use Funtua road as an alternative route.
The directive was contained in a notice titled “Katsina State Government, Nigeria, security challenges (Containment order)” personally signed by Governor Aminu Masari on Monday.
The government also announced other measures among which were the suspension of sales of animals at markets in fourteen Local Government Areas of the state.
The affected councils are Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Kankara, Malumfashi, Charanchi, Mai’adua, Kafur, Faskari, Sabuwa, Baure, Dutsin-ma, and Kaita.
The Government also announced that only two designated fuel stations have been allowed to sell fuel that is not more than N5,000 to motorists in each of the following fourteen councils – Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Kankara, Faskari, Sabuwa, Dandume, Musawa, Matazu, Dutsin-ma, Kurfi, Danja and Kafur while it also reinforced its ban on the sale of fuel in Jerry cans throughout the state.
The operation of commercial motorcycles and tricycles were also restricted from 10 p.m to 6 a.m in the state capital, Katsina while it is from 6 p.m to 6 a.m in all the Frontline Local Government Areas.
Workers who fall under essential services including identified journalists and health personnel are however allowed to use either the motorcycle or tricycle anytime.
The government also announced that commercial motorcycles should not carry more than one passenger at a time while tricycles should not carry more than three passengers.
It also announced a ban on the sale of second-hand motorcycles at Charanchi market.
The government also announced a “ban on transportation of cattle trucks from Katsina state to any state in Nigeria.”
It has also banned lorries/trucks from carrying firewood from the bush.
