Ibaa community in Emohua local government area of Rivers State has been thrown into chaos as gunmen suspected to be operatives of a faction of the disbanded OSPAC, a local Vigilante Group, shot four operatives of a rival faction to death.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, 1st April.
In an interview with our correspondent, a native of the community who pleaded anonymity narrated that the killing may not be unconnected with the battle for control of the Illegal levy known as ‘matching ground’ between the two factions of the disbanded group whose members are alleged to be cultists.
However, information gathered states that some natives have started fleeing the community for the safety of their lives as of 8 am today.
Recall that sometime in February 2022, two persons said to be members of one of the two factions of disbanded OSPAC were killed in Ibaa, but the Acting Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Grace Iringe Koko, said that only one person killed and not two as reported.
DSP Grace Iringe Koko is yet to respond to text messages sent to her mobile number regarding the killing of today Friday, 1st April 2022.
