2023: I am open to reconciling with Wike – Atiku Abubakar

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has revealed that he is open to reconciling with Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike over the outcome of the party’s presidential primary.

It would be recalled that Atiku had defeated Wike at the presidential primary and also proceeded to choose Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.

It is believed that the Rivers governor and his supporters are aggrieved by this development, as some have proceeded to resign, highlighting the unjust nature of the party.

Atiku, who spoke during the party’s rally in Osun State on Thursday, said the PDP is a big family, adding that there is no division in the party.

He said: “There is no Wike’s camp or Atiku’s camp. It is all social media drama. The PDP is one big family.”

The flagbearer who claimed there is no disagreement between himself and the Rivers governor, however, noted that he is open to talks with Wike.

State governors of the PDP had arrived in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, featuring the party’s candidate, Ademola Adeleke.

Present in the state are Governors Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, the party’s vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

However, some chieftains absent at the rally include, Governor Wike, governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and a former governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose.
