As former senator Magnus Abe clinches the governorship ticket of the Social Democratic Party, the All Progressives Congress has said it will be to the disadvantage of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election.
Shortly after announcing his membership of the SDP, Abe got emerged as the governorship candidate of the party in Rivers State.
Abe was elected during a primary conducted in Port Harcourt on Saturday and supervised by INEC’s senior officer, Pastor Emmanuel Isong.
Chairman of SDP substitution electoral committee, Alhaji Muhammed Ibrahim, declared Abe the winner of the unopposed election, having polled 30 votes.
A chieftain of APC in Ahoada West Local Government Area of the state, Ajasin Vincent told our correspondent that in 2019, Abe’s supporters voted for PDP in the state.
Adding that this time, the votes which PDP would have gotten from Abe’s supporters will go to Abe himself for being the 2023 guber candidate of SDP.
“You can see how Abe’s emergence in SDP has already paved the way for APC’s victory in the forthcoming guber election in the state.
“That is why his exit from our party to SDP did not move us because we have seen it as been good for us but bad for PDP, “Vincent said.
