Rivers United Technical Manager Stanley Eguma says he expects his team to maintain focus and put up better performances over the final twelve Nigeria Professional Football League games rather than worry about the setback in their previous games.
Despite having fallen to only three defeats this season with most recently a 2-1 lose to Kwara United in Ilorin on matchday 26, Rivers United are certainly in fine form having also a four point lead on top of the NPFL log.
The “Pride of Rivers” will host MFM FC on Sunday 8th May 2022 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium as the Nigeria Professional Football League enters matchday 27 and Coach Eguma maintains his men will not underrate the “Olukoya Boys”.
“We know what happened to us in Ilorin, it was a big setback considering the fact that we were really on course but we have set that behind us and looking forward to a better performance coming up this weekend against MFM. We are looking to bounce back.”
“The players are showing good signs, the spirit is high and we are ready to go. We are well motivated and we all know what is at stake. Everybody in the team are all bent on ensuring that we maintain our momentum.”
“For us here in Rivers United, we do not take any team for granted. No team is a pushover, the teams fighting relegation are the most dangerous because the more you neglect them will be at your own peril.”
“We are really prepared to give our best because we know MFM will come and fight the fight of their lives here. They need some points to survive and here in Port Harcourt, they will not hide their feelings about it so we are coming out in full force to ensure that no stone is left unturned in ensuring we get the points at stake.”
